The Atlantic Dragons
Our fire grows stronger by the day...

The Dragons were initially conceived as a mercenary team called Dragon Squadron, which would host about 10 to 12 people that could go to tournaments and play unofficially. The initial goal was to experiment with and innovate tactics and plays, with successful strategies being shared among other teams to help them grow.
Over time, however, the Dragons became envisioned as a team that could strike a balance between those who wanted to succeed in competitive play and those who wanted a more relaxed, casual gameplay experience. To facilitate this expansion, it was also deemed necessary to find new ways to help grow players in a system that was efficient but also fun and inviting.
A further need was recognized to help expand quidditch as a whole by spreading awareness of the sport outside of the established quidditch community. From these considerations, the Atlantic Dragons were formed with an initial roster of three players. Since that time, the team has grown to a strong core of 19 players, with a high number of 28 USQ registered players throughout the 2018-2019 season.
To this day, the needs for innovation, player growth, and inclusivity have been our guiding principles. As a team, we have constantly sought to push the boundaries of what can be done on pitch: experimenting, failing, and adapting until we succeed. We take the time with each player to improve their skillsets and increase their confidence in the process. Suggestions for improvement are taken from each individual player, in order to ensure everyone has a voice and a hand in our growth as a team.
This process has culminated in the successful acquisition of a bid for US Quidditch Cup 12, the largest quidditch tournament in the country. Moving forward, we seek to continue using this process to expand the team and the abilities of its members even further.
